Last week, on Thursday, May 15, and Friday, May 16, 2025, the RA Tennis Academy had the pleasure of welcoming Marc Raffel – founder of M.A.R.A. Tennis Camps and TeReMeer – as a special guest coach for our Adults L1/L2 and Competition L1 groups. What began as two routine practice days quickly turned into an intensive masterclass in modern tennis techniques, tactical acumen, and professional mindset.
Who is Marc Raffel?
With over three decades of coaching experience, Marc Raffel brings a wealth of knowledge forged on both the ATP Tour and in the Tennis Bundesliga. He first picked up a racket at age 8 and went on to claim Men’s Association Championships titles in both the Lower Rhine and Middle Rhine regions. Since launching his coaching career in 1990, he has served as tournament director for the ATP Challenger event in Meerbusch as well as multiple ITF tournaments, and he organizes numerous national ranking (LK) events. His hands-on, practice-oriented approach and deep understanding of high-performance environments have made MARA camps a byword for quality training in Mallorca and Sardinia.
An Intensive Two-Day Session
From the warm-up drills on Thursday afternoon to the high-intensity long line plays on Friday afternoon, Marc’s sessions were structured but flexible – —geared toward addressing each player’s technical and tactical needs. Participants rotated through small-group technical drills, situational match play, and strategy.

Advanced Footwork & Court Positioning: Marc’s drills emphasized explosive split-steps and efficient recovery patterns, helping players conserve energy while maintaining offensive positioning.

Tactical Point Construction: Through live-ball scenarios, players learned to identify opponent weaknesses and sequence shot selections to construct winning points.

Mental Toughness & Match Prep: Beyond strokes, Marc shared insights on pre-match routines, in-match focus techniques, and post-match reflection practices.
Participant Feedback
Both our Adults L1/L2 and Competition L1 members left energized and motivated. Many noted and appreciated a new coaching experience. One Competition L1 player remarked, “Marc’s breakdown of point scenarios completely changed how I approach each serve – it was a real eye-opener.”
